The beautiful glass sculptures of Dale Chihuly inspired the glass flower series. Vinyl was coated with acrylic paint on the underside, cut, melted and shaped revealing petals, leaves and the stems of flowers. The shiny, smooth side of the vinyl became the surface of the flower giving the look of glass. Just as nature gives us multitudes of color and texture, so do these flowers. The canvas background is textured with pumice stone, matte molding paste and acrylic paint to contrast the slick, shiny glass look of the vinyl. Glass flowers call out to be touched and explored.
